Due to COVID - 19, you may be concerned whether AdventureServe programs are still being planned. We have had multiple spring service groups and retreats need to cancel. However, we remain prepared to be in operation for the summer. We are monitoring national and state alerts regarding necessary restrictions and protective guidelines. We expect that clients we serve will be even more in need and group participants will be that much more ready to be active outside!
We have been encouraged by individual volunteers who have continued to improve our camp property in recent weeks and friends checking in. We have used this time to keep communication with homeowners, church groups and partner agencies. We are also discerning financial decisions in order to best weather this storm organizationally. We have been reminded of Exodus 5 when the Israelites had to “make bricks without straw.” Obviously the conditions of COVID - 19 are very different but the response to this restrictive new reality is similar. It is our hope that we and other Christian good works organizations will endure through obedience, creativity, frugality, and God's providence. And that our God will be made known!
This is an uncertain, difficult time for everyone. Despite the chaos and all of the unknowns, God remains unchanged. “. . . We who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. . .” Hebrews 6:18-20. We hold your congregations and communities in prayer. May this experience show us more of God's presence and providence.
Like other small nonprofits, we are concerned whether we will be sustainable through COVID - 19, so we will be researching the governmental relief programs available. We encourage those of you who know the value of our ministry to support us if you are able.
Thanks to the Cares Act, many Americans will soon be receiving stimulus checks. This is a much-needed blessing for countless people struggling to make ends meet amidst a very difficult time. If you are not among those being challenged financially, we encourage you to consider giving to people or organizations who are experiencing financial burdens right now. We are hopeful that summer programs will still happen but our ability to weather this storm is more dependent than ever upon generous friends of ASM. Would you consider tithing a portion of your stimulus check to AdventureServe Ministries? And if not ASM, there are many nonprofits/businesses/people in need right now. Whatever we give, God multiplies our efforts and values our sacrifice. AdventureServe is about ministering to the marginalized, inspiring the faithful to serve, caring for creation and developing future leaders. Help us weather this storm by donating through our website online.
