STAFF APPLICATIONS
Requirements
All applicants must have a current driver’s license
and be at least 18 years of age. All staff must be
first aid and CPR certified and wilderness staff must be certified in lifeguard and wilderness first aid. All certifications are provided as part of staff training (minimal fees apply).
Benefits
During the summer, you will have lodging, food, laundry facilities, and transportation to and from AdventureServe activities.
Vacation
All staff are given up to six vacation days, scheduled by their program manager. If you require specific
days for these vacations, arrangements MUST be discussed and made with the Program Director prior to hiring. Throughout the summer you will be off Saturday afternoons until Sunday mornings, except for the midsummer weekend when you will be required to attend community activities.
Stipends
ASM Summer staff are given a $1,600 – $2,500 stipend based on experience. Staff are also asked to raise $1,000 to complete their compensation for the summer.

When the Program Director receives your application and references, they will call you to set up a time for an interview.

You will have a telephone, skype, or face-to-face interview.

The Program Director will either offer you or not offer you a position and wait for your acceptance or denial. We fill positions on a first-come, first-serve basis. As soon as you commit to coming, we will reserve a place for you on our summer staff.
Staff Training
Before trips begin for the summer, all staff participate in three weeks of intensive training. Training sessions are led by experienced ASM staff and cover a variety of skills pertaining to summer programming: First Aid, Home Repair skills, Wilderness-Adventure skills , Leadership & Communication, Conflict Resolution, Team Building, etc. We crosstrain all summer staff to ensure that each Trip Leader and Manager is well equipped, confident, and competent.
Summer Staff Positions
There are two types of summer staff at AdventureServe: Trip Leaders and Support Staff (Managers). Trip Leaders work directly with groups to guide and facilitate trips out in the field (there are always at least two trip leaders per trip). Support Staff (Managers) work directly with Group Leaders and Trip Leaders to coordinate and plan trips from basecamp. Trip Leaders and Support Staff are designated for the summer to a specific program (Home Repair, Wilderness, Mystery Trip) based on their unique skill set and personal interests.
Start on Monday, May 10th and are dismissed on Friday, August 6th
Start on Sunday, May 16th and are dismissed on Tuesday, August 3rd
